Bubblefest
12-2 PM; Fee: $3 per child, $2 members

Make a bubble blower, shake hands in a bubble, stand in a bubble, and make your own bubble art. Museum staff will guide you in fun bubble activities. Learn how to make some of your own bubbles for home fun too! This event will take place outdoors, so please dress for the weather. No registration required.

Family In the Park Day
11-3 PM; (except for Bubblefest)

Kick off summer with a park-wide celebration in Lords Park! Starting at 11am, come listen to the band Good Clean Fun! From 12pm-2pm, enjoy Elgin Public Museum's Bubblefest with the kids! There will be plenty of things to do on this wonderful summer day; Say hello to the K9 Corps of the Elgin Police Department, take a dip in Lords Park swimming pool, and visit the farm animals at Lords Park Zoo. Don't forget to grab a bite at the food trucks! See you there.

Adventures in the Zoo: Wildflowers

In spring and summer, Lords Park boasts a large number of beautiful wild flowers which have been used for food, medicine, and color for hundreds of years by Native peoples and settlers alike. Join us for an up close and personal look at the bison, deer and elk at the Lords Park Zoo. Meet at the Museum for a short introduction after which we head for the zoo to assist the zookeeper in feeding these magnificent creatures. Space is limited to 12 people, so please register early! Insects are everywhere! There are more insects on Earth than all other animals combined. Are all bugs insects? What body parts are the same for all insects? See the world through an insect's eyes and watch simulated mouth parts in action. Check out insect life cycles and go on a bug hunt! Be sure to set the bugs free and unharmed when you're done observing them through our specialized bug boxes- they've got an important job to do!
