     ICE AGE ERA COLLECTION

Our landscape has changed drastically through geologic time. During the Pleistocene (1.8 million years ago – 11,000 years ago) glaciers were the driving force of this change. Evidence of this activity is all around us. Our exhibits and text panels explain the glacial process and how you can recognize landscape features that were caused by glacial activity.

Also, view replicas of the mammals that roamed this area 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age, such as saber tooth tigers, mammoths, mastadons, giant beavers and dire wolves. Life was quite different here for our human ancestors.
