Historic Elgin House Tour
9 am - 4 pm; Free for House Tour participants; Museum is open at regular admission for non-House Tour participants

This year the Historic Elgin House Tour has put the Elgin Public Museum on its map! Come visit us to see an example of Classical Revival architecture by the architect David E. Postle. Postle designed both the museum and the Pavilion in Lords Park, which is also on the House Tour. The museum will be open all day for the House Walk. Science Night: Superstitions

What better day to explore superstitions, than Friday the 13th? We’ll discuss the cultural origins of popular superstitions and whether there is any scientific credibility to them. Just be sure not to walk under any ladders on your way to the museum! No registration required.

Bison Feeding in Lords Park
7:00 am - 8:30 am; $2/adult, $1/child, Members free

Come on down to the Elgin Join us for an up close and personal look at the bison, deer and elk at the Lords Park Zoo. Meet at the Museum for a short introduction after which we head for the zoo to assist the zookeeper in feeding these magnificent creatures. Space is limited to 12 people so please register early!

Saturday, September 28

Native American Cultural Day
11 am - 4 pm; Free!

Come to Lords Park for the annual celebration of native American culture. Throughout the day there will be different activities available to the public. The Bison Blessing will thank the bison for all they have provided. Enjoy a portrayal of a Potawatomi Indian from the late 18th and early 19th century, as Sal Redhawk cooks over an open flame in front of his lodge.
